RAFIKI
CANNES FILM FESTIVAL
Directed by Wanuri Kahiu and Produced by Big World Cinema, Rafiki is a Kenyan film which was banned from screening in its country of origin because of its positive representation of queer love.
Sheila had the honor of playing Ziki in the critically acclaimed film which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Her portrayal of Ziki earned her a Best Supporting Actress award.
COUNTRY QUEEN
NETFLIX
Sheila also recently appeared as Anna in Kenya's first homegrown Netflix series "Country Queen", currently airing in 190 countries worldwide.
Sheila took on the role of Anna, a clinical officer caught in a tumultuous love triangle against the backdrop of a village crippled by a gold rush.
ENKAI - KIZAZI MOTO
DISNEY
In addition to her work in film and TV, she had the opportunity to collaborate with DISNEY on ENKAI. She plays Shiro, a ‘god’ who is struggling to save earth and raise her powerful daughter.
With a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.3 on IMDB, this action packed animated sci-if anthology presents ten futuristic visions from Africa. The anthology series premiered July 2023.
SARAFINA
THEATER
Sheila captivated audiences with her powerful portrayal of Sarafina in the acclaimed theatre production of Sarafina. Her outstanding performance won her the Best Actress award.
Sarafina also sparked a renewed enthusiasm for theatre among Kenyans, driving a growing demand for more local productions.
